Exchange 2007 - ActiveSync (Multiple Sites)
Hi there,
Question for thoes who are still using Exchange 2007......
We currently have two AD sites, each site is made up of the following:
2xMB (CCR)
2xHUB/CAS
1xEdgeT
Each site is conencted by a Fast WAN link
All internet traffice comes into Site A
We use ISA 2006 for External connectivity (outlook.external.com)
We have an internal DNS setup to load balance the CAS Servers - outlook.internal.com
* One HUB/CAS Server from Site A is inculded
* One HUB/CAS Server from Site B is inculded
On Site A - The ActiveSync URLS are set as External - outlook.external.com and Internal FQDN of server
On Site B - Only the internal URL is set - FQDN.
Question - if I remove the external URL for ActiveSync, what problem will this cause?
Issue -
Users connect to Outlook.internal.com, CAS in Site B responds (due to DNS round robin). Users mailbox is in Site A, CAS in Site B checks to see if the external URL is set on the CAS A, it is and then trys to re-direct to the external site. Error.
Users connect to Outlook.internal.com, CAS in Site B responds (due to DNS round robin). Users mailbox is in Site B, CAS in Site B checks Internal URL. Works OK.
Users connect to Outlook.internal.com, CAS in Site A responds (due to DNS round robin). Users mailbox is in Site B, CAS in Site A checks to see if the external URL is set on the CAS B, it's not, so proxys the request to CAS in Site B. Works OK.
Users connect to Outlook.internal.com, CAS in Site A responds (due to DNS round robin). Users mailbox is in Site A, CAS in Site A checks Internal URL. Works OK.
If I remove the external URL on the CAS servers in Site A, will that break anything? What i want is regardless of where the users comes into the environemnt (site A or Site B) , that their ActiveSync traffic is proxied correctly to the correct internal CAS Server.
Thanks.
