Exchange ActiveSync Error

$

Hello,

WE have Exchange 2010 running in a DAG and everything has been working fine. We have 2 Sites 2CAS and 2Mbox in each site. For some reason when I try and activate a new device from Site2 I receive and error on the CAS server in Site1 which states;

The Client Access server doesn't have the InternalURL value set for the Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync virtual directory. This prevents Exchange ServiceDiscovery from finding the MobileSyncService information for user SERVERMBOX02.domain.com. At least one Client Access server in the user's mailbox Active Directory site must have the InternalURL value set. The format for the InternalURL value is https://hostname/Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync

When I check the ActiveSync settings they are all set. I am only having this issue on adding a user that has a mailbox in Site2, if I try with a user in Site1 I dont have this problem. Does anyone have any suggestion on what might be causing the problem?

Thanks,

Gavin

Change ActiveSync server name on client (Android) devices remotely

Hi, we have approximately 1000 users with Exchange mailboxes, and utilise ActiveSync with the name  activesync.company.com  for most users, and this works well.

However, for around 45 users (mostly senior execs, road warriors and early adopters), when we were on Exchange 2007, we used ISA 2006 server, and these people utilise an ActiveSync name of  OMA.company.com  that is published through ISA server, which connects to one of our Exchange CAS servers directly (no Load Balancer).

We want to decomission our ISA 2006 server, and migrate these 45 users over to using  activesync.company.com   - we would like to do this without having to visit these users. Is there a way to reconfigure the Android and iOS users to use the new ActiveSync load-balanced name and IP?

We don't use OWA, but our "LegacyURL" is currently blank.

We have considered DNS changes so that OMA.company.com is directed to ActiveSync.company.com - but the certificate at ActiveSync.company.com does not include any SAN names or CN for OMA.company.com

Does anyone have any guidance on how we can remotely transition these users?

android support for activesync policy

Hi,

It was mentioned specifically that Windows Phone 7 only support a subset of Microsoft exchange policies.

Can I check if the policies indicated in this link https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123783(v=exchg.150).aspx

are common for other mobile devices then?

There is community chart http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_Exchange_ActiveSync_clients available as well but there are N/A for most phones which differs from the TechNet link.

Taking for example, Allow Desktop Sync is an option listed under TechNet mobile device mailbox policy. But it is N/A for google android accordingly to Wikipedia comparison chart.

Would like to check if "Allow Desktop Sync=false" in ActiveSync policy will disable google android phones from syncing from phone to desktop. Or it desktop sync not applicable at all for google android phones?

Thanks.

Cell phone wipe only Exchange or all accounts?

I'm using Exchange 2010 SP1.  When you remotely wipe a user's cell phone does the entire phone get wiped, or only the user's Exchange account information? (if they have say a home email account and the Exchange account on the same phone)  In addition, did the lock option disappear?  The users do have locks set on their phones, but I was wondering if I could force a lock in addition to the wipe.  (in case the user setup the phone to render the lock useless - like a super long timeout).

Invoke-MonitoringProbe fails for ActiveSync

Hello,

We upgraded from Exhchange 2007 to Exchange 2013 SP1 with no issues.  We applied CU8 and noticed the health status for ActiveSyncCTPMonitor report unhealthy.  We followed the TechNet article "Troubleshooting ActiveSync Health Set" but when running Invoke-MonitoringProbe ActiveSync\ActiveSyncCTPProbe we receive the Warning "Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection."

ActiveSync is working as expected.  I've searched the web and seen others had this issue with CU7 with no resolve.  I did verify this worked prior to applying CU8.

I really appreciate any help you can provide..

Thanks,

Steve

Hi

We have the following error on a 2013 CAS that I cant seem to find any details on (see below).

CAS is part of a migration from EX2010 and sits behind TMG2010. All systems are working, CAS is passing traffic through to 2010 CAS.

Any help much appreciated.

ActiveSync via Proxy Server fails from iPhone6 when HTTP Redirect is enabled on the Default Website

$

Hi,

Bit of an odd issue but I'll try to keep it simple.

We have a working 2013 Exchange environment and use Application Request Routing (ARR) as a Reverse Proxy for external users to access ActiveSync (among other services). So far everything works fine but when I added an HTTP Redirect rule on the root of the ARR server to help users get to the /rdweb sub folder, ActiveSync stops working from the iPhone 6 devices.

If I use the MS Connectivity Analyzer to check ActiveSync it reports Success so I'm wondering if the iPhone 6 implementation of ActiveSync might be causing the problem?

If I disable the HTTP Redirect rule, the iPhones start to work perfectly!

Cheers for now

Windows phone 8.1 telephone book and GAL sync

We have started using the windows phone 8.1 since this year and we've noticed that with the exchange synchronization that the GAL does not appear immediately in the telephone book on the phone itself. Is this a setting on the exchange server, or is an additional app required for this?

Event 1033, MSExchangeActiveSync Warning

Hi there,

We are getting MSexchangeActiveSync warning messages -event ID 1033 on Exchange 2013 CU3. Details can be seen below. As we are in the process of mailbox migration from exch 2007 to 2013, we are also noticing activesync issue once a while. I couldn't come across anything regarding to warning message and I'm curious if this is somehow link to activesync issue that we are noticing?

"The setting SupportedIPMTypes in the Web.Config file was missing. Using default value of System.Collections.Generic,List`1[System.String]."

PS: Restarting activesync pool helps and restart the activesync connections as it is mentioned on the link.

I have requirement, where in I need to keep devices only with

DeviceUserAgent = RIM and WorxMail

and remove other devices in the existing ActiveSyncAlloedDevicesIDs. Not sure if the below mentioned shell commands can be used, as it is required to corrected.

Get-ActiveSyncDevice | where {$_.DeviceUserAgent -notcontains BB*, WorxMail*} Remove-ActiveSyncDevice –Confirm:$True

Get-ActiveSyncDevice –filter {DeviceUserAgent –ne “BB*”, "WorxMail*" } | Remove-ActiveSyncDevice –Confirm:$True

If there are any scripts which can do it please share.

Thanx

ActiveSync clients fail to send messages intermittently

$

Hi

We have a new Exchange 2013 CU8 deployment, running on Server 2012R2, in co-existence with our existing Exchange 2007.

Users we have migrated to 2013 are having intermittent issues sending emails through ActiveSync. This is on Android and iOS devices. When sending, the messages fail and stay in the outbox. If you go to the outbox and resend, eventually it will be sent. This can take 1 resend or many. Sometimes messages go first time without failing.

The Outlook app for ios and android is not having the same issue, emails are sent fine, however with the stock Email for iOS and Android mail apps, we are seeing this issue. The tracking logs are not showing any failures, only the successful sending.

ActiveSync is published externally through 2 x 2012R2 WAP servers, connecting to a VIP on jetnexus ALBs, with the exchange services presented through that. We have tried restricting the VIP rules to just one server to rule out persistence issues, with no success.

Outlook and OWA are functioning correctly with no known issues.

Any ideas, please?

What controls/archiving options does Exchange 2013 have for SMS messages for devices with an active sync mailbox on them?

Delay in ActiveSync after Mailbox Move from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013

$

After a mailbox move from Exchange 2010 to 2013, there seems to be an hour or so delay before ActiveSync starts working again for that mailbox. External and internal DNS is pointing to the Exchange 2013 CAS, which proxies everything just fine for mailboxes still on the Ex2010 server. After a mailbox move from Ex2010 to Ex2013, Outlook and OWA work perfectly fine and get proxied to the proper mailbox by the Ex2013 CAS immediately, but activesync does not for about an hour or so.

Running the ExRCA for Activesync with the credentials of the mailbox that just moved it fails at the Attempting to send the OPTIONS command to the server, with a HTTP 403: forbidden. Interestingly, even though the mailbox is fully on the Ex2013 server, it seems that the Ex2013 CAS is still trying to proxy the activesync session to the Ex2010 mailbox (in the ExRCA error, theX-CalculatedBETarget is still pointing to the Ex2010 server), and since the user is no longer on that mailbox you get the permission error. If you wait an hour or so after the mailbox has moved everything starts working properly and X-CalculatedBETarget points to the proper server when you run the ExRCA.

So my question is: is it normal for there to be a delay in ActiveSync after moving the mailbox? Is there some kind of cache on the Ex2013 CAS for proxies that just takes a while to time out before it starts proxying activesync to the proper mailbox? is there any way to change this behavior if it is normal? Both Ex2010 and Ex2013 servers are in the same AD site, so there isn't any cross-site AD replication lag, and I'm not seeing any ActiveSync related errors in any of the logs. Thanks!

(Also I should note, the accounts I've tested moving are just normal AD accounts that have the 'Inherit permissions' checked in AD. I'm aware of the issue with privileged AD accounts sometimes not getting the proper Exchange permissions inherited causing ActiveSync to fail, but that is not the case here)

Mobile Outlook Clients constantly ask for credentials on Exchange 2013

I am having an issue with our Outlook clients after migration to Exchange 2013 from Exchange 2007.  The clients keep asking for Credentials, even after selecting remember password.  So I click cancel, and on the send/receive tab there is a button that is requesting Username and Password.  I click it and it appears to connect.  It says it is connected and then either I wait a few minutes and there will be another credentials popup, or I try to send out a mail message and get the same thing. I'm not having issues with internal clients.  And our certificate is working fine.  testexchangeserver.com Outlook Anywhere passes.  All settings on Client Outlook match.  Outlook versions are updated to recent version, 2007 and higher.

Also noticing that every once in a while the Authentication settings under Security tab in the More Settings portion of setup, keep changing to Anonymous.  The settings within Exchange Proxy Server also keep changing to negotiate.

I would have like to use NTLM across the board so my mobile users do not have keep entering their information.  When I do get the settings changed to NTLM it appears as though it stays connected a little better, but that is until I send a message or if I restart Outlook.

I have been working on this for DAYS and tried every single thing I can think of finding: from changing the settings, rebuilding the autodiscover settings, reinstalled outlook, setup outlook profiles, deleted outlook completely including profiles and many more things.  Has anyone ran into this, and what can I do.  I would like to just redo the RPC virtual directories to see if that helps, but cannot find information anywhere.  Reinstalling Exchange is NOT AN OPTION as I have already moved the boxes because it appeared to be working and worked fine in my test environment.
Really hoping someone can help, let me know what else you need.  I have to get this going, as I have sales people without mail.  I had to move the boxes, as they for some reason were not able to connect to their old boxes after I installed the Exchange 2013 and it was a big mess. Figured it would be easier to move everyone to what I thought was working fine, and ended up being a big mess.

Wondering if anyone knows the issue with Android fingerprint readers and ActiveSync - is there a setting somewhere that needs to be altered to allow the fingerprint reader with the S5? I know the iPhone5s' fingerprint reader works, but having no luck so far with the S5.

Active Sync access question

We are in the process of upgrading users from 07 to 13.  We have an active-sync policy that blocks all devices until we approve them.  Can someone please tell me why it takes 1 - 6 days (it's very inconsistent) for some devices to get blocked?  Is there a process that runs?  Is there a way to make this happen sooner?

thanks

Windows 8.1 Phone some users mail stops downloading since upgrade to Exchange 2013 CU8

$

Morning,

We have been using Windows Phone 8.1 for around 18 months, with little/no active sync connection issues.  Originally running on Exchange 2007.

Upgraded to Exchange 2013, again, little/no issues.

Since applying CU8, we have a random set of users whose mail will stop syncing on the Windows Phone.  It won't download new mail but they can still send from the device.  Removing the mail account and re-adding fixes the issue, although some users are experiencing it more than once, sometimes on a daily basis.

Has anybody heard of anything like this? Trying to find some consistency in it.  Maybe a red herring but one user has an iPad, and when his mail stopped on the Windows phone, it continued on the iPad happily.

Thanks

Remove Mobile Device: A positional parameter cannot be found that accepts argument 'False'.

Hi folks,

In Exchange 2013 Shell, I am trying to delete any old Mobile Devices that have not synced for 6 months or more. As a result, auditing require me to get the list of devices that are being deleted.

I wrote this script that I want to run once a month on a scheduled task. However, If I run manually and click accept to each device being deleted, it works fine. The moment I add the -Confirm $False to Remove-Mobile Device, I get an error:

"A positional parameter cannot be found that accepts argument 'False'."

Here is the script anyway but my question: has anyone managed to run an automated script that removes old active sync mobile devices?

$resultsarray = @()

$Devices = Get-MobileDevice -ResultSize Unlimited
ForEach ($Device in $Devices) {
  $ID  = $Device.Identity
  $DisplayName = $Device.UserDisplayName

  # Get the statistics for each Device
  $DeviceStats = Get-MobileDevice -Identity $ID | Get-MobileDeviceStatistics

  If ($DeviceStats.LastSuccessSync -le (Get-Date).AddMonths("-6"))
  {
 $DeviceType = $DeviceStats.DeviceType
 $State = $DeviceStats.DeviceAccessState
 $FirstSynced = $DeviceStats.FirstSyncTime
 $LastSynced = $DeviceStats.LastSuccessSync

 # Create a new object for the purpose of exporting as a CSV
 $pubObject = new-object PSObject
 $pubObject | add-member -membertype NoteProperty -name "Identity" -Value $ID
$pubObject | add-member -membertype NoteProperty -name "Display Name" -Value $DisplayName
$pubObject | add-member -membertype NoteProperty -name "Device Type" -Value $DeviceType
$pubObject | add-member -membertype NoteProperty -name "Access State" -Value $State
$pubObject | add-member -membertype NoteProperty -name "First Synced" -Value $FirstSynced
$pubObject | add-member -membertype NoteProperty -name "Last Synced" -Value $LastSynced

 # Append this iteration of our for loop to our results array.
 $resultsarray += $pubObject

 # For the purpose of outputting to the screen if running the script manually
 Write-Host("Deleting device: $ID")
 Remove-MobileDevice -Identity $ID -Confirm $False
  }
}

$resultsarray | Export-Csv E:\DeletedMobileDevices.csv -NoTypeInformation

The error message that comes back in the shell says:

A positional parameter cannot be found that accepts argument 'True'.
    + CategoryInfo          : InvalidArgument: (:) [Remove-MobileDevice], ParameterBindingException
    + FullyQualifiedErrorId : PositionalParameterNotFound,Remove-MobileDevice
    + PSComputerName        : ExchangeServerName.domain

Can anyone help with how you remove mobile devices without having to confirm their removal please?

Many thanks

Danny

full re-sync or partial re-sync after enable or disable email account on mobile device?

$

Hi experts,

I'm having an issue on iOS 8.3 MobileMail client that after every mail updates, one or more emails display as "This message has not been downloaded from the server". It is a sync problem that only email header was downloaded without the full mail body. I want to resync the these issue mail again by enable and disable the email account.

Since the mail client configured as Exchange ActiveSync client follows ActiveSync protocol, I would like to know is this re-sync a full sync (reysnc all of the mail) or a partial sync (only re-sync the issue email)? I don't think it is a mobile mail client behaviour, they all follows ActiveSync protocol.

Thank you!
