how do you use Get-MobileDevice?

$

i have been making a list of all my ActiveSync users. from this list, i'm narrowing it down to users who actually uses a smartphone to cheir their emails.

i get Get-MobileDevice to find out the last succesful sync among other things. however, i noticed that some users are not being listed with this command. these users actually have used their smartphones within the last month or so. to make matters worst, i know for a fact that some company directors are always checking their emails from their smartphones but some of them are also not getting listed in my report.

should i be using a different set of command/s to find out who uses their mobile devices with Exchange?

Hi All,

I cannot access my mail via the android mail app. I want to be able to sync my calendar and contacts also so I need the microsoft exchange setting but no setting will work for me. I have followed all of the instructions at https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Set-up-email-on-an-Android-phone-or-tablet-886db551-8dfa-4fd5-b835-f8e532091872?ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US to no avail. With every combination of Domain\Username, and exchange server but I always get the message 'authentication failed'. I can access my emails, calendar, etc. through the outlook app but the android mail app will not let me in. Can you help? I've lost several hours to this now. V. frustrating.

Thank you.

Sending attachments bigger than 5MB fails using Activesync

We are running Exchange 2010 SP3. Latest update rollup. A user reported today that they get a sending error trying to email a picture to another user using ActiveSync and their mobile device.

I verified this is the case. Seems like smaller pics go through like 5MB but larger ones do not. You can successfully send to a gmail account but not another user on Exchange.

I found this article below but it is for Exchange 2013, not Exchange 2010. The folders they reference don't exist nor do the virtual directories in IIS.

Based on some other information I found, it looks like you just need to modify the web.config file on the CAS role server, at least for 2010 anyway. I was going to change the values for  MaxDocumentDataSize andMaxRequestLength in the web.config on each CAS server to 29696 (29 x 1024) to get as close to our Exchange Global limit of 30MB. Is there anything else I need to change?

Outlook For Android does not sync with Exchange 2013

Hi, Need help here!

We have implemented, installed and configured a fresh MS Exchange 2013 server. Everything seems to work fine except for a specific app = Microsoft Outlook App for Android. This is affecting all user in our corporate network.

1- Download Outlook App from Google Play and install
2- Successfully configured and initial sync is working. All email synced for the first time.
3- There will be no more email coming in after that, that initial sync is the only sync that is working.
4- Manually sync the mailbox, still no new email arrived in the Outlook inbox (Android).
5- OWA, Microsoft Office Outlook, Outlook Anywhere works fine without any issue.
6- Downloaded and configured few other 3rd party mail client app for android, there are NO PROBLEM! no issue at all.
7- Also try the built-in Android mail client app, NO PROBLEM!

If i use the Android built-in email app, there is no such issue or problem, configuration, usage.. it works perfectly. Also randomly pick and tried with other Android email client apps such as 'Nine' and 'MailWise' that have the option to setup Exchange email, those apps works fine.

This has become a big issue to my management as they are expecting Microsoft Clients App should bind and works well with it's server. It is a bit disappointed for us because we just decommission our IBM Domino Server and decided to use Microsoft product as our email gateway. At least if anyone can confirms that this is actually an issue with the App development, not the Exchange server configuration (found out there's so many similar issues reported worldwide when googling for answers).

Guys!! I do appreciate your advise on this. Thanks.

Hi!

Is the use of ActiveSync protocol to build an iOS app require a license like Android apps or Apple already paid for it.

Hi,

We're working on a new Exchange 2013 CU2 migration on Windows Server 2012 from Exchange 2007 SP3 on Windows 2008.  We have two Exchange 2013 physical servers running CAS and a single DAG (2 servers 1 DB) with a 2008 R2 witness server.  Everything seems to be working fine but we are getting the following events every few minutes in the event logs on both servers.  I've searched high and low and can't seem to find a resolution.  Any suggestions?

Event ID 5011 from the Source WAS with this info:

What is the maximum size of an attachment/email in ActiveSync?

$

We had issues sending and receiving attachments in ActiveSync due to the settings in the web.config file. The default was set to 10MB. We use Exchange 2010 SP3. I adjusted the values in the web.config file to accommodate up to 30MB which is our Global limit in Exchange, but it seems attachments larger that 22 MB continue to fail.

I then adjusted our Global limit to 35 MB and changed the settings in the web.config file to accommodate the same size, but it still fails with any attachment(s) totaling 22 MB or more. Is this some kind of limitation with the ActiveSync protocol or is there a setting I am missing?

ActiveSync and P/W Changes

Hi Folks

I am in a bit of a situation where my mobile phone (iPhone) has been misplaced. First instinct is to reset all your passwords, which i did immediately. Unfortunately my only option should this device come back on line is to initiate an Activesync Remote wipe.

Now, in the process of resetting my password i would imagine it would have eventually broken any future connections (no server/phone match). Therefore, i decided to change my domain password back to the original so that if the device came online it would authenticate and wipe. I have tested this in my environment at work and it would seem that even though there is a password match on the device and server, this isn't registering and therefore no connection and wipe. Just to clarify, the server had password "A", changed to password "B", then back to password "A". The phone has always had password "A".

It's been roughly an hour so i thought something would have initiated by now in the test environment. Am i just being impatient or will this fundamentally not work?

Thanks for your help

2 User Calendars One device - ActiveSync Devices (iOS/BB10 whatever) - Multple User Calendars

Hello,

We have had long standing requests from admin assistants who want access to their VIP/Managers calendar on their corporate mobile devices.

As passwords cannot be shared we cannot simply setup 2 accounts on a mobile device.

Is there an enterprise method for enabling access to a 2nd corporate calendar via ActiveSync?

If there is not, is there a solution via o365 & what is its name?

Thank you,

Tony.

How to display a shared calender of another Exchange mailbox on an iPhone?

Hello everybody,

A customer has Exchange 2010 SP3 CU 2015-12 running and published via TMG 2010. A user A shares his calendar to user B. User B wants to see that shared calendar on his iPhone (which is connected to user B's mailbox via Exchange ActiveSync).

How could we do that?

iOS Outlook App management

$

Hi there,

We have recently started using the Outlook mobile app for iOS. This is after implementing an MDM solution which manages the native Apple mail client. At present, with the introduction of the Outlook app we have no real management over the mail app.

Our users have multiple iOS products and despite being able to see a mobile client within the EMC when looking at a particular user, we are unable to determine which device this belongs to if they have more than one. I have confirmed with the app support team that wiping that instance would wipe all mail instances across all devices (when they had a data signal) but it doesn't help if I only need to wipe one of their few devices. Is there somewhere someone knows of centrally where I can see all instances a particular user may be using for the Outlook app and what device that may relate to (IMEI, anything!).

Let me know if you need more info and thanks in advance for your responses/help.

Cheers

Tom

ActiveSync Autodiscover pulling wrong certificate(WWW instead of mail server)

I have an interesting issue. New exchange deployment. RCA tests show that autodiscover is configured correctly and I've validated the config in PowerShell. For whatever reason, in iOS, both Outlook app and the native email app pull in a SSL certificate associated with the main website (externally hosted www), not the mail server.  Do I need to use an SRV record to make this work?

setup email account automatically fails with username password error on device for internal mobile devices. (Android and Apple)

I have an issue where laptops can connect inside and outside of my network, also mobile devices such as Android & iPhone CANconnect outside without entering in server name and domain..... but if a user is on the LAN and tries to connect I get username password error on the device.
If I go ahead and manually enter in the username,password,domain.....it works perfectly both inside and outside

this is a new install of exchange 2013 in a lab environment for the purpose of getting my MCSE

I really don't think it is a DNS issue because I can browse to the site (inside and outside using the external URL's) I am open to correction

I don't think it is a firewall issue as my pervious lab worked without issue and I have changed nothing (its a Cisco asa 5505)

I am new to this so I would appreciate any and all help

Thanks

Understanding MIMETruncation and TruncationSize

$

I am reading ActiveSync Protocol document. But I could not able to figure out the below mention questions regarding following flags in Sync request

i.  MIMETruncation(in chars)
ii. BodyPreference{Type = 4, TruncationSize(in bytes)}

1. What is the difference between MIMETruncation and TruncationSize?
2. What are there default value if they are not present?
3. If both are present then which one overrides whom?
4. Also as we know a MIME mail has some predefined format so if I say a MIME mail consists of Mail Header(To, From, Subjects etc) and Mail Body(Actual content). So which truncation field apply to which part of mail(Note that there units are diffent one is number of chars and other one is in bytes)? As of now TruncationSize applies to ApplicationData->Body->Data field content. But in case of MIME email I want some clarification is it apply to Mail Body or Mail as whole(Mail Header + Mail Body).
5. Also mail at server can be stored in any format say plain, HTML, rich text so while sending mail to mobile device which type should be placed in Mail Body(HTML/PLAIN/RICH TEXT)?

ActiveSync Event ID 4023

Hello MS Community!

Running Exchange 2013 CU2 with all applicable patches.  Server has been in production for 2 month now.  Over the last couple of weeks Event ID 4023 started to appear in the Application Log.

Log Name:      Application
Source:        MSExchange ADAccess
Date:          11/18/2013 10:00:39 AM
Event ID:      4023
Task Category: General
Level:         Error
Keywords:      Classic
User:          N/A
Computer:      server.domain.loc
Description:
Process w3wp.exe (AirSync) (PID=3388). The budget for user 'DOMAIN\username_HTC188c824b2995ba5de8ef4a3ef73ae_htcvigor' is locked out until 11/20/2013 6:20:12 PM.  Max Burst: 240000, Recharge Rate: 360000, CutoffBalance: -600000

This is happening for iOS and Android users.  I reviewed both the Global Throttling Policy and Default Throttling Policy.  There are no other policies in place.   Global Policy is read only and can't be modified.  For Default policy I doubled the  EasCutoffBalance, EasMaxBurst, EasRechargeRate.  Restarted the Microsoft Exchange Throttling service.  Still the same issue.    Checking affected mailboxes with Get-MailBox shows no ThrottlingPolicy assigned, so default must be in effect.  So there are 2 questions:

1) Why is it happening all of a sudden?

2) Why modifications to the policy make no difference?

Thanks!

Cannot send large messages from iphone. It says "Your mailbox is full"

$

I have an iphone with my exchange account set up with activesync and it works fine for sending and receiving email - except when I try to send emails about 10MB or larger. They just get stuck in the outbox and a message pops up saying "Cannot send mail""Your mailbox is full"I checked and my mailbox is currently 28% full.

I checked with our exchange admin and the message size limit on our server is 25MB, and I can send large messages up to that size to and from outlook on my desktop with no problems. I tried deleting and recreating the exchange account on my iphone but it made no difference. I tried sending large emails from my iphone using a gmail address and that works fine. I can even send the large email from the gmail account on my iphone to my exchange account and receive it in outlook on my desktop, but I cannot send email larger than 8-9 MB from Mail on my iPhone!

Does anyone have any idea where the problem might be?

iphone 5S, iOS8, Outlook 2013, Exchange 2013.
