How to reset mobile device password?

Hi,

I am able to force a password policy on devices but a user has forgotten their password. Is there a way to reset/recover their password through exchange online? Apologies if this is the wrong place to ask.

User ActiveSync issue after migration

We are on the tail end of an Exchange 2007 -> 2013 migration of about 1200 users.  All users have been migrated with very little issue.  However, 1 user is presenting problems with their ActiveSync.  They are reporting drastic change in battery life on their device since migration.  They have an application monitor app and are saying that their mail program is causing a huge amount of activity.

I've investigated log files and on our legacy Exchange 2007 Client Access/Hub server, I am seeing hundreds of thousands of entries daily (800,000 yesterday alone) in the W3SVC1 log file on the legacy server for this users devices (both iPhone and Andriod). No other users seem to appear in these logs.  Here is an excerpt from the log files:

We are running Exchange 2013 in a 3 node DAG which is where this users mailbox now resides.  The user reports that they are able to retrieve mail on their device at work and while on mobile network, but at home on WiFi they cannot get their mail (probably not related, but maybe.)  I've tried removing/recreating the ActiveSync profile on the device, moving the mailbox to different databases, exporting/deleting/importing the mailbox but none of these have fixed the issue.  I really don't know how/why the device is getting to the legacy Exchange 2007 CAS/HUB server.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Pat

Cannot connect with Outlook Android after moving back to on-premise

Hello.

We have a hybrid environment with Office 365 and Exchange 2013.  My mailbox used to settle on Office 365 cloud space, and I always use Outlook Android version to connect my mailbox.  Yesterday, I move my mailbox back to on-premise space, then I cannot connect mailbox with Outlook Android forever.  Every time I tried to connect with Outlook Android, it redirected me to Office 365 login page.  I tried to uninstall Outlook Android and install again, but it was not work.  The problem was just happened with Outlook Android, other clients (ie. BlueMail (Android), Outlook (Windows 10), or Android native mail) work perfectly.

I can connect to mailbox by ActiveSync with all clients, but Outlook Android.  Did I lost something important?

AutoDiscover returning incorrect server name for mobile devices

We are mid migration from 2010 to 2013 and recently started moving live users over to the new server while Outlook seems to reconfigure itself correctly when an account is moved to a new server our mobile devices are being given a name of "migration" to use. This server did have that as an alias for awhile but its not showing in any of my records that I can tell. Yet when I do a remote exchange connectivity test I get the below info. If the account is on the old 2010 server it gets the mail server correctly.

XML response:<?xml version="1.0"?><Autodiscover xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/exchange/autodiscover/responseschema/2006"><Response xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/exchange/autodiscover/mobilesync/responseschema/2006"><Culture>en:us</Culture><User><DisplayName>Barney Rubble</DisplayName><EMailAddress>Barney.Rubble@p.com</EMailAddress></User><Action><Settings><Server><Type>MobileSync</Type><Url>https://migration.p.com/Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync</Url><Name>https://migration.p.com/Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync</Name></Server></Settings></Action></Response></Autodiscover>

Checking on the server I get

Identity AutoDiscoverServiceInternalUri AutoDiscoverSiteScope
-------- ------------------------------ ---------------------
EXCHANGE                                https://mail.p.com/autod... 		{MainDataCenter}
MAIL2                                   https://mail.p.com/Autod... 		{MainDataCenter}

I'm at a loss as to how to change that setting. I also checked the SCP bindings and see mail in there...

I also reset autodiscover through the ecp and did an iisreset and everything stayed the same.

Certificate Based Authentication (iOS) - initially connects fine then "The connection to the server failed"

$

I've setup certificate based authentication for activesync on Exchange 2013.  We're using primarily iOS devices and that's all I'm testing with for now.

I apply the profile using Apple's iPhone configuration Utility, install the profile on the phone and my mailbox syncs as expected.  I can send and receive messages for a short time, somewhere between 2 and 5 minutes.  After that I cannot get a connection again and get the message "The connection to the server failed."  I am able to access the server through safari so network connectivity is OK.  The only way to regain a working activesync connection seams to be either rebooting the phone completely or instructing the iPhone to "Reset Network Settings" which also ends up rebooting the phone.

I have verifiied that "Include inheritable permissions from this object's parent" is selected in the users AD security settings which was the only item I have found that may relate to this error in my searching.

I did have certificate based auth working in my Exchange 2007/2010 environment and also in my Exchange 2013 test environment.

The Exchange remote connectivity analyzer test for activesync fails but only because of the certificate auth which it doesn't seem to be setup to handle.  Everything else passes.

Remove Mobile Phone Partnership and Password Recovery Options

Hi,

I have a user who has lost their password on their SAMSUNG phone. ActiveSync is enabled on this phone. I have two questions:

1. If I have a recovery password, how and where do I enter this to reset the password on the mobile phone.

2. Can I just disable ActiveSync using "Remove Mobile Phone Partnership" in Exchange 2010 to clear the password off the device.

Thanks!

Exchange 2007 EAS problem on Verizon

$

This issue started several month back with one of my clients and their Verizon Android and iPhone devices. The devices will work fine on with ActiveSync for 10-30 minutes, then the devices will not get push email nor updates to contacts/calendar. I can't even add an exchange account on a phone connected to Verizon's network (Wi-Fi off), it fails to find the server at all.

Devices on AT&T, T-Mobile and even an Android VM on a Comcast connection work perfectly fine. Verizon's network team looked at the issue and has determined that they're network is fine and is blaming my client's server. The server passes Exchange Connectivity Analyzer and as mentioned, works perfectly fine on other providers networks.

Verizon refuses to look at the issue any further. I think Verizon's network is to blame as evidenced by the other providers working perfect.

Am I missing something here? It can't possibly be that Verizon needs some special setting in Exchange or something.

Thanks!

Exchange 2010 ActiveSync attachment limit

I know this is a 2013 forum but my issue is with 2010. I adjusted the web.config file on the CAS but no matter how high I make the numbers, the limit seems to be around 22MB or so for attachments. I realize there is overhead with an email of up to 3MB or so and it's probably looking at the entire message, not just the attachment.

Has anyone with 2010 SP3 been able to accommodate attachments larger than 23-25MB? My Global and Receive Connector limits are fine. Issue is only with ActiveSync.

ActiveSync Event ID 4023

Hello MS Community!

Running Exchange 2013 CU2 with all applicable patches.  Server has been in production for 2 month now.  Over the last couple of weeks Event ID 4023 started to appear in the Application Log.

Log Name:      Application

This is happening for iOS and Android users.  I reviewed both the Global Throttling Policy and Default Throttling Policy.  There are no other policies in place.   Global Policy is read only and can't be modified.  For Default policy I doubled the  EasCutoffBalance, EasMaxBurst, EasRechargeRate.  Restarted the Microsoft Exchange Throttling service.  Still the same issue.    Checking affected mailboxes with Get-MailBox shows no ThrottlingPolicy assigned, so default must be in effect.  So there are 2 questions:

1) Why is it happening all of a sudden?

2) Why modifications to the policy make no difference?

Thanks!

EMC shows 'ghost' mobile devices

Single Exchange 2013 Server running in a AD 2012 environment.

.

Recently had this problem pop up.

.

When using View Details in EMC under Mobile Devices, I get a list of devices.  When I click on a device, it may give me an error that 'Device cannot be found'.  When I check ADSI, that object is NOT listed.  It is also NOT listed when I run Get-MobileDevice, but DOES show up when I run Get-MobileDeviceStatistics.

.

Why am I getting different results and how do I fix?

.

Thanks....

Accessing a shared mailbox with ActiveSync?

$

I would like to setup access a shared mailbox via ActiveSync by multiple users.  Shared mailboxes have disabled user objects by default and I don't want the users to have to share a password for the shared mailbox.  So I attempted to grant the users full access to the mailbox to see if they could log into the account using their own credentials via ActiveSync, like in Outlook.   After configuring the phone with the shared mailbox e-mail address and the user's (who has full access) ID and password the user's mailbox is coming up, not the shared mailbox.

I know I can enable the AD object and have the user's share the password.  Are there any other options?  If I enable the account does that then require a user license?  I'm assuming that's why it gets disabled.

Thoughts?

Activesync data on phone that no longer synchronizes

I'm trying to put together an activesync policy for my organization and have a few questions. First, there is a option in the policy to require a device to be encrypted. Does the mean that the entire device must be encrypted before it will be allowed to sync. Also, data is stored on a device when it has synchronized with Exchange. Does the data stay on the phone if the device is removed without a wipe?

I am confused about the RequireDeviceEncryption parameter

On my Android device I have the option of encrypting my entire device. With the Mobile Device Mailbox Policy there is an option for "RequireDeviceEncryption". If enabled does this encrypt my device when I sync? Is it the same as the encryption option on the device? Can anyone help? I'd really like to know how this particular feature works. Thank you.
