Error:MissingCscCacheEntry for ActiveSync proxy after 2013 CAS migration

$

Hello,

We cut-over to a new 2013 CAS server (external) by changing the NAT from the old 2010 CAS.  ActiveSync proxy to the old 2010 CAS/Mailbox server (internal) was working well with one exception.  One iPhone showed no error on the phone, but would not load any new mail.   This was also the only device we tested that had been connecting to the old 2010 CAS server before the cut-over, so there were no changes to the mail profile on the phone.  Rebooting the iPhone did not resolve the issue.

In the IIS  logs of the 2010 CAS/Mailbox server shows the following error for each ActiveSync proxy request from the device:

2013-11-18 23:07:58 192.168.126.3 POST /Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync/Proxy/default.eas User=jsmith&DeviceId=ApplC38JK0TJDTTN&DeviceType=iPhone&Cmd=Sync&Log=PrxFrom:172.16.16.4_V141_Cpo20000_Fet20015_Error:MissingCscCacheEntry_ 443 DOMAIN\OWA-2013$ 172.16.16.4 Apple-iPhone5C1/1101.501 441 0 0 20031

We backed out all the changes, and then configured the new 2013 CAS server to serve ActiveSync on a different external URL for testing.  When the same device was configured to use this URL, the proxy succeeded.

I'm happy to provide any other relevant details.

Thanks,

   Travis

Windows 8.1 Mail App Not prompting for certificate - "Unable to Connect"

I have Windows 8.1 and the updated Mail application on a Surface Pro.

No matter what method I try, or account I try to add, I cannot get the mail client to ask for use of a certificate for EAS auth.   It consistently asks for username and password and then just notes that I "Unable to Connect"

I have a certificate in my user store.  I've verified that and that I have the private key.  I have other applications which work with that certificate.

I have confirmed that the EAS server address will prompt for the cert if I enter via the browser so it can see and communicate with the server but the mail app just refuses to prompt.

Any ideas?

David.

We are not able to use Activesync

Environment Details:

Exchange : 2007 Enterprise SP3 Roll up 10

Server : EX01 (hub cas)

EX06 (mailbox)

Exchange is not published on open internet.

Outlook 2010 client works correctly on exchange.

We have existing BlackBerry Enterprise Server 5, which uses MAPI to connect to Exchange, and this works perfect.

We are in phase of implementing BlackBerry Enterprise Services 10, which works on ActiveSync.

WE notice ActiveSync is not working in LAN environment.

We tested same using 2 mobile devices, that are connected to LAN using a local Wifi and it gives Authentication failed error.

We are able to open OWA in browser on these handsets.

But the mail client (Active Sync), in the handset does not connect.

We also tried testing Activesync, in LAN on windows 7 in LAN, using a third party tool, from accessmylan.com “ActiveSync Tester”.

But it fails.

connecting to live account whilst connected to exchange

$

I am running Outlook 2013 to an exchange server on a work system but I also have a live account for use on my personal surface device. I wanted to be able to sync my calendars and contacts between the 2 systems, previously I have used the live connector in 2007 (when using phone 7). I understand that I need to manually copy items between the accounts, not the best but works OK and was fine on 2007.
I have set up outlook 2013 to connect to the exchange server and this works fine and I have also created an account that connects to my live account using the active sync that also works fine when laptop connected to home network, but not when connected to the office LAN. When connected to the office I get
"log onto exchange activesync mail server (EAS): The server cannot be found"
when testing the account settings.
the only difference between office LAN and home are:
1.  Connection to exchange during test
2.  The office LAN has a separate Proxy server, between the LAN and the internet, which requires modification to the connection settings in explorer to allow that to see the internet.
I can not find anything in the active sync settings that allow the specification of a proxy server, so had assumed it would use the internet connection settings from explorer, maybe this is not the case, or is it that the connection to exchange is stopping the active sync connection.
Some help in this matter would be very helpful.

Exch 2003 on old W2000 + iPhone +Active Sync

This is a bit of a long shot but I have Exchange 2003 running on W2000 (I know, not supported, but it is a very small setup)

My Windows Phone 7.8 works fine but I cannot get the iPhone to sync using Active Sync. I do not have an X509 cert installed on this setup. Could this be the reason the iPhone does not connect even though I have unticked the use SSL box on the iPhone. The Windows Phone does connect when the SSL box is unticked.

The iPhone is up to date and a 4S.

Exchange 2013 CU2 wipe device

Hello. I have an Exchange 2013 CU2 new installation. I synchronized an android device (version 4.1.2). I have two problems. The first is after synchronization finished and after working 2-3 days with the phone, I noticed that there were some folders with no email/subfolders. I changed the sync settings to synchronize all days but nothing.

The other is when I tried to wipe the device. although that no further synchronization can occur, email messages, contacts etc remain on the phone.

Any ideas are welcome!!!

Regards

I have 1 user who has a Samsung Tablet with wireless broadband service who keeps complaining that he "loses" his email account every Friday, and that he has to set it up again.

For some reason, Exchange keeps creating a additional copies of the same device. Some are quarantined some are not.

http://i.imgur.com/Pcs18jK.png - Shows the current status

http://i.imgur.com/DpikiYY.png  - Shows the original partnership details

http://i.imgur.com/dXYpz5s.png - One of the quarantined partnerships.

When devices are quarantined, I always release the ones I know, but WHY isn't Exchange recognizing the device?

There one active one which was created in a April (when the server was installed), and last updated 11/25, today, so obviously, that one is working correctly, but why are there so many duplicates with various statuses?

I'm now getting a message on this user that they have the maximum of 10 devices in use. Which is NOT true, there are only 2 devices.  I have tried deleting the quarantined devices and they won't delete. They go into Delete Pending, but next time I view the user they are back to Quarantined.

We are running SBS 2011, and Exchange is current on all patches.

Thanks!

Exchange 2010 SP2 ActiveSync locking users out after password changes.

When a users password is changed a stored password on a phone appears to be locking out accounts via ActiveSync.  Is there anything that we can do other than change our lockout policy so that mobile devices do not lock out accounts?  It would seem that if a process is automated the system should realize this and not lock out the account.

Passwords get changed and the user may not have access to all of the devices.

Thoughts?

Windows 8 Mail App Certificate Based Authentication

$

This is more of a tick towards inclusion.

It's my understanding from the Exchange Team Blog that the Win 8 Mail app doesn't support Certificate Based ActiveSync.  Now that is just crap. I mean exchange server serves it up, it's a Windows Based mail client supported by other devices such as IOS and Android, however Microsoft can't seem to include it in their own products?  WTF.

Any who, is there a plan or time frame before this is included?

Thanks

Access shared mailbox from mobile devices via POP3 with linked mailbox credentials in Exchange 2013

$

Hello all,

In short - I want linked mailbox users to be able to read a shared mailbox e-mails on mobile phones. OWA is not a good enough idea, since very few of the client users find it usable on small screens. I was expecting them to be able to connect to shared mailboxes via POP3, but I have missed something or it is simply not possible for some reason.

I have an Exchange 2013 CU2 deployment with users as linked mailboxes, and shared mailbox in local Exchange domain.
* User accounts are in user account domain "usersdomain.com"
* Exchange 2013 CU2 is installed in domain "exchangedomain.com"
* There is a working trust between these two domains
* UserA from "usersdomain.com" have linked mailbox in Exchange on domain "exchangedomain.com", POP3 enabled, everything works very well.
* There is a Shared Mailbox "SharedMailbox1@exchangedomain.com", and both, UserA@usersdomain.com and UserA@exchangedomain.com (disabled account for linked mailbox) has Full Access and Send as permissions to this shared mailbox. Everything works very well via Outlook (MAPI) or OWA.
* There is also UserB@exchangedomain.com, who has Full Access and Send as permissions to this shared mailbox "SharedMailbox1@exchangedomain.com" and POP3 enabled. Everything works here too.
* "SharedMailbox1@exchangedomain.com" has POP3, and all other protocols enabled.

In the setup above I can successfully retrieve e-mails from shared mailbox using Outlook with POP3 login name UserB@exchangedomain.com\SharedMailbox1@exchangedomain.com, but when I use UserA@usersdomain.com\SharedMailbox1@exchangedomain.com I get "bad username or password".
I can open SharedMailbox1 via UserA@usersdomain.com OWA site, and I can get UserA@usersdomain.com e-mails via POP3.

Now, what I want to do, is for the user UserA@usersdomain.com to connect and use SharedMailbox1@exchangedomain.com via POP3 on mobile device. IMAP is a second choice, or any other means to read the emails from the shared mailbox on mobile devices, with this users credentials and without duplicating any e-mail via some rules, and without using OWA  .. Is this possible?

Any suggestions?

Sincerely,
Vince

Problems connecting Samsung Galaxy S4 Active with MS Exchange 2008R2

My Samsung phone works well and I have no issues connecting to the internet.  I'm trying to synch my work account which is run through Exchange and will not synch with my phone.  I'm the system admin for the company and am sure that my settings are correct.  Other users in the company with the Samsung S4 (not the Active phone) are able to synch their Exchange account with their phone.  I've contacted ATT and they referred me to Microsoft.  Has anyone else encountered and solved this problem?

NFC Unlock

I am sure the answer is no but figured I would ask the experts.

With the newer phones that support NFC and NFC Unlock is there any support for that in the ActiveSync Policies?

I tried a very simple policy with the only requirement is for a password, every other device feature is enabled to use. When this policy applies the NFC Unlock feature states that it can not be used as it is being controlled.

I know this is a security concern which is why I am sure the answer is no

Thanks

Privacy for Personal Contacts Using Outlook on an Exchange Server

$

I am currently using Microsoft Outlook under two different users on the same laptop. User 1 is connected with an Exchange server and, as far as I know, all folders (email, contacts, calendar, tasks and notes) are duplicated and updated regularly on the server.

User 2 is not connected to the ME (Microsoft Exchange) server and holds my personal information for email, contacts, calendar, tasks and notes.

Currently, I sync my cell phone with the folders (contacts, calendar, tasks and notes) in Outlook for User 2. I am doing this directly between the laptop and the cell phone device without the use of a cloud (I am cloud averse)

I am trying to figure a way to have both my business and personal information (contacts, calendar, tasks and notes) on my new GS3 phone but not have to have my personal information saved or synced with the Exchange server. In other words, is there a way to select which records (folders) you want to have saved to the ME server and which you do not?

Hi,
