ActiveSync issue for one user

Hi

We have a very strange activesync issue with one user on an Exchange 2010 Server.

If he set the synchronization to 1 oder 2 weeks, the synchronization works without a problem. If he set it to one month or unlimited, he gets an error like server unreachable.
The initial synchronization works, although there comes a server unavailable error, but new emails are not synchronized anymore. If he change the synchronization back zu 2 weeks, new emails are synchronized.
His mailbox has a size of about 9GB. The Inbox contains about 6'500 items and one personal folder containing about 15'000 items older than 2 years.

This issue can be reproduced on different iPhones as well as with a Windows Phone.

I already did the following troubleshooting steps:

- Checked inherited permission on his AD account
- Moved his Mailbox to another database
- Disabled his mailbox an reconnected it again
- Created new throttling policies without limitations

Always the same issue.

How can I troubleshoot this, or does someone know this problem?
