Different OWA for each SMTP domain

$

0

Hello and a Happy New Year to all!

In Exchange 2013 I have created 3 Accepted domains. I have create a separate OU for the users pertaining to each such specific SMTP Domain, added the SMTP domain as UPN Suffix via ADSIedit. Create E-mail Address Policy for this new SMTP domain. Restrict the e-mail address policy to their respective OU.

I need to have different OWA sites for each domain, so they can access their mailboxes by using theirdomain.com/owa.

Questions:

1. Do I have to create copies of the virtual directory of OWA for each SMTP domain in IIS?

2. Do I need to add an internal IP to the Exchange NIC for each of these copies?

3. How do I set these to Admin Console?

3. I am using pinpoint split DNS for each domain. Do I need to have (internal) A records for each OWA site?

4. Will these copies get updated via Exchange updates, if and when any?

Best regards

Kostas

ActiveSync not working, Test-ActiveSyncConnectivity fails

$

I inherited an Exchange 2013 issue and trying to figure it out. Basically Active Sync is not working, but OWA works. This is an internal test lab environment and all user access is done internally, so no access from the internet.

Environment

9 CAS Servers | emm-load13-cas1 thorugh 9

3 Mailbox Servers

---------------------------------

To troubleshoot, I tried running "Test-ActiveSyncConnectivity | fl" and found that its trying to connect to the mailbox server instead of CAS and errors out. I figured there is an issue with Autodiscover or my internal URI configs on the ActiveSync Virtual Directory. I checked the SCP in AD and ActiveSync Virtual Directory, they all are pointing to the respective CAS Servers.

ActiveSync Notification Mail to EAS approvers not working.

Hi.

We have a problem that I can't figure out, and I'm hoping that maybe someone else in here have had the same issue and have solved it.

The thing is that we have set up ActiveSync Quarantine on our Exchange 2010 SP2 servers, and everything has been working fine for a long time. EAS approvers have got the notification mail about a new device in quarantine, and then gone into ECP to approve the device.

Then suddenly about 2-3 weeks ago, the notification mails to the EAS approvers stopped beeing sent out. When we look into the mailbox where a ActiveSync device is waiting for approval, we can see the notification mail in the draft's folder of the mailbox. It gets created, but not sent out.

Does anyone have a clue what the problem might be? Is it related to some permissions missing?

All help would be appriciated.

Un-Quarantine Mobile Devices

How do I allow a team/user to allow/unquarantine a mobile device from Exchange server 2010 SP3?

What permissions/roll do we need to assign in Exchange 2010 to allow my helpdesk team to release quarantined mobile devices?

Limit on AS - how many can connect?

Hi

Is there a limit of how many devices that can connect to the same mailbox?

It's a little opposite the normal situation with limit of Active Sync devices for each user.

Here we have a lot of users connecting to the same mailbox via their AS device.

Event 1033, MSExchangeActiveSync Warning

$

Hi there,

We are getting MSexchangeActiveSync warning messages -event ID 1033 on Exchange 2013 CU3. Details can be seen below. As we are in the process of mailbox migration from exch 2007 to 2013, we are also noticing activesync issue once a while. I couldn't come across anything regarding to warning message and I'm curious if this is somehow link to activesync issue that we are noticing?

"The setting SupportedIPMTypes in the Web.Config file was missing. Using default value of System.Collections.Generic,List`1[System.String]."

PS: Restarting activesync pool helps and restart the activesync connections as it is mentioned on the link.

Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) Base64 decoding issue for Windows 8

$

I am having a problem decoding the URL parameters for my exchange active sync. According to the documentation the URL parameters are either plain text or encoded with base 64. When I look at the Microsoft example

POST /Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync?jAAJBAp2MTQwRGV2aWNlAApTbWFydFBob25l HTTP/1.1

Content-Type: application/vnd.ms-sync.wbxml

User-Agent: ASOM

Host: Contoso.com

Content-Length: 866

and i decode the URL parametersjAAJBAp2MTQwRGV2aWNlAApTbWFydFBob25l I get  v140Device SmartPhone

But in my system when i connect using either a windows phone or Windows Mail client I get the following

POST /Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync?jQMJCBBgMOo4NRIhymNelU6Z7jHTBDzZUJwLV2luZG93c01haWwHAQE= HTTP/1.1

Content-Type: application/vnd.ms-sync

User-Agent: WindowsMail/17.4.9600.16384

Host: *************

Content-Length: 4893

When I decode the URL parametersjQMJCBBgMOo4NRIhymNelU6Z7jHTBDzZUJwLV2luZG93c01haWwHAQE= i get `0ê85!Êc^•N™î1Ó<ÙPœ WindowsMail

The example I took from the documentation found here https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&cad=rja&ved=0CDgQFjAB&url=http%3A%2F%2Fdownload.microsoft.com%2Fdownload%2F5%2FD%2FD%2F5DD33FDF-91F5-496D-9884-0A0B0EE698BB%2F%5BMS-ASHTTP%5D.pdf&ei=_0HMUr_lOYe27QbyhYAg&usg=AFQjCNEPrHG-eKRggHHzwdGMYEwq40DI3A&sig2=cfu2LP2tjaJAjgimY_lQ7w&bvm=bv.58187178,d.ZGU

I can't figure out why. Is there some sort of different encoding for windows 8 and windows 8 phone?

Any help is appreciated as this is driving me mad.

.wav file will not play on iOS / active sync (opens as MIME type)

iOS 7 not playing .wav file from email

Asked by:MitchS47

our landlord phone system sends voice mails to email via a wav file attachment.  we were able to listen to the wav file in all places, i.e. Outlook, OWA, and iPhone/iPad before moving email from SBS 2008 (exchange 2007) to Office 365.

other change at about same time iOS 7 upgrade.

the current chain goes like this Phone system send to the landlord Exchange 2010 server > the exchange 2010 sends to our Office 365 (exchange 2013) > emails to devices.

Now, we can listen to the wav file on Outlook, OWA, and Android (galaxy 2) but cannot listen on the iPhone/iPad.  it shows as a MIME attachment.

the strange thing is that if your forward the email from Outlook to yourself the wav file will play on the iPhone/iPad.

any searches regarding the MIME attachment generally says that you do not have an app for the file type but of course there is one and works when forwarded to yourself.

I am thinking it lies with Exchange or office 365 but have been through both the exchange 2010 and O365 and can't find anything actionable.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Exchange 2010 phone system setup clarification.
the phone system, copier/scanner, etc., owned by landlord, send Voicemail and scanned docs to the Contact of the tenant on the Exchange server 2010 server.  The Contact is configured with the external email of the tenant.

NOTE:  this worked before the move to Office 365 and iOS7 and still does on Outlook clients and OWA and Andriod.

Direct Push on Exchange 2013 not working

$

0

We've upgraded (Migrated) to Exchange 2013 CU2 and although ActiveSync is working Direct Push has stopped.

We have new mailbox servers and the ActiveSync Server that had Exchange 2010 had Exchange uninstalled and Exchange 2013 installed back on to the same server.

All network settings, firewall settings and certificates remain the same.

ActiveSync is working, but only in fetch mode.  We can see port 443 open and in use and testexchange website shows pass.

Now I'm stumped. Fundamentally the only change is the Exchange version, can anybody point me in the right direction on how to diagnose and fix this issue.

Items changed on the mobile devices update immediately and are visible on outlook.  New email waits for the mobile to be used or a fetch period to be reached.

We're seeing the same issues on multiple device types: iphone, ipad, android, windows mobile 8.

We've had this working for years starting from Exchange 2003 without any issues.

Thanks,

Iain.

ActiveSync Event ID 4023

Hello MS Community!

Running Exchange 2013 CU2 with all applicable patches.  Server has been in production for 2 month now.  Over the last couple of weeks Event ID 4023 started to appear in the Application Log.

Log Name:      Application
Source:        MSExchange ADAccess
Date:          11/18/2013 10:00:39 AM
Event ID:      4023
Task Category: General
Level:         Error
Keywords:      Classic
User:          N/A
Computer:      server.domain.loc
Description:
Process w3wp.exe (AirSync) (PID=3388). The budget for user 'DOMAIN\username_HTC188c824b2995ba5de8ef4a3ef73ae_htcvigor' is locked out until 11/20/2013 6:20:12 PM.  Max Burst: 240000, Recharge Rate: 360000, CutoffBalance: -600000

This is happening for iOS and Android users.  I reviewed both the Global Throttling Policy and Default Throttling Policy.  There are no other policies in place.   Global Policy is read only and can't be modified.  For Default policy I doubled the  EasCutoffBalance, EasMaxBurst, EasRechargeRate.  Restarted the Microsoft Exchange Throttling service.  Still the same issue.    Checking affected mailboxes with Get-MailBox shows no ThrottlingPolicy assigned, so default must be in effect.  So there are 2 questions:

1) Why is it happening all of a sudden?

2) Why modifications to the policy make no difference?

Thanks!

Exchange 2013 and 2007 - Coexistence and ActiveSync

$

Good morning all,

We're currently in the process of migrating our Exchange server from 2007 to 2013, and am experiencing a few problems. At the moment, OWA redirection works fine, but ActiveSync does not. At the moment the 2013 Server isn't public facing, it's internal until all testing is complete. However despite being on the LAN, when an iPhone is configured to target the 2013 server, it isn't proxying to the 2007 CAS, but instead provides a vague error of being Unable to Verify account information. No mail is retrieved.

Has there been a step I've missed to allow this to work seamlessly?

Unable to use Outlook anywhere and Active Sync - Error 401

Hi

This is a completely new installation from scratch for a new company. There's only one DC (DFL/FFL 2012) and one Exchange server 2013.

There is something I'm missing trying to get Outlook anywhere and Active Sync working. First thing I did was to configure the external URLs as follow using ECP

ECP: https://mail.mycompany.ca/ecp
EWS: https://mail.mycompany.ca/EWS/Exchange.asmx
Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync (Default Web Site): https://mail.mycompany.ca/
OAB: https://mail.mycompany.ca/OAB
OWA: https://mail.mycompany.ca/owa
PowerShell: https://mail.mycompany.ca/powershell

Second thing I did was to buy and install a UCC SSL Certificate for mail.company.ca & autodiscover.company.ca). That worked well.

Then I've try to configure some some IOS devices and Android devices. The set-up phase went trough and the devices acknowledged the credentials but when the device try to synchronise itself it will run forever without any error or content downloaded.

Then I've try to configure some Outlook 2013 clients to use Outlook anywhere and the same problem is present.

I've used the "Microsoft Remote Connectivity Analyzer" to perform an ActiveSync and a Outlook Anywhere (RPC over HTTP) where both test failed with the only error of :

An ActiveSync session is being attempted with the server.
Errors were encountered while testing the Exchange ActiveSync session.
Test Steps
Attempting to send the OPTIONS command to the server.
Testing of the OPTIONS command failed. For more information, see Additional Details.
An HTTP 401 Unauthorized response was received from the server. This may be the result of invalidcredentials or a configuration problem on the Exchange Server.

Hi,

We're working on a new Exchange 2013 CU2 migration on Windows Server 2012 from Exchange 2007 SP3 on Windows 2008.  We have two Exchange 2013 physical servers running CAS and a single DAG (2 servers 1 DB) with a 2008 R2 witness server.  Everything seems to be working fine but we are getting the following events every few minutes in the event logs on both servers.  I've searched high and low and can't seem to find a resolution.  Any suggestions?

Public folder calendar

Hi,

We recently migrated to Office365 and so far I am very happy with it.  I'm trying to figure out how to do something though.  We have some public folder calendars, and I have users who would like to view these public folder calendars on their smartphones.

Obviously they can view their personal calendar by default on the phones, but is there an app or something that would allow them to view a public folder calendar on a smartphone?

Thanks for any help!

Exchange 2013 CU2 to CU3 OWA now redirects to IIS page

$

so i did the the update from Exchange 2013 CU2 to CU3 last night and i am unable to access OWA. when i go to the site i initially received a 403 forbidden error but i cleared out the require SSL, which somehow got re-enabled, and now it redirects to the IIS 8 page.

In IIS it seems like the redirect values for default web site got cleared away. I put in the address that was previously there and then e-mail for the whole company goes down after an IIS reset. In the default web site i entered to redirect to https://mail.contoso.com/owa like how it was before but that doesn't work.

any ideas/feedback would be great!

Thanks!
