Composing new messages using smtp alias doesn't return results

$

Greetings,

Our setup: New Exchange 2013 server with an existing 2007 server.  Looking to move mailboxes to 2013.  When testing with iOS and Android devices we found when composing new messages and using an smtp alias and just typing each users initials (which is a smtp alias of each user plus their regular email address)  no results are coming up when connected to Exchange 2013 mailbox on 2013 CAS server.  It works when using Exchange 2007 CAS.

If we type the user's first name it comes up with the user and smtp address.  However, just typing the 3 letter alias - nothing comes up and we just get "no matches" returned in the messaging app.

I've checked everything I can think of.  Ideas or suggestions?

Many thanks!

Delegate ActiveSync Device Approval

Hi there,

anyone worked out full set of permissions needed to delegate permissions to  Allow/Block quarantined Activesync devices in ECP ?

Went over this thread:

http://www.experts-exchange.com/Software/Server_Software/Email_Servers/Exchange/Q_27427812.html

but this does not seem to work with Exchange 2013 SP1

I'm trying to save time before going over the necessary roles one by one.

The goal is to assign helpdesk (or any other group) the minimal set of  permissions to view quarantined devices and be able to click allow/block without seeing (or being able to modify) anything else in ECP.

Any help is mostly appreciated.

Thanks

ActiveSync clients get password invalid

Hello Everyone,

Im new to Exchange and Im encountering issues setting up clients with ActiveSync, Im currently testing with BlackBerry Enterprice Server 10 and iPhones directly with Activesync.

When I add an account on an iPhone I get the error "Password incorrect" but the password is correct, with the Blackberry 10 devices I get "there was an unexpected error and the operation was canceled" .

The OWA works fine and I can send and receive mails perfectly

Im really stuck here, I'm running Microsoft Exchange 2013 CU5

I have run the Test-ActiveSyncConnectivity tool and all tests pass also for an specific user with the -MailboxCredential option all tests pass. also when I open https://<myserver>//Microsoft-Server-Activesync it works. I've checked the SSL settings for Microsoft-Server-Activesync in the IIS manager and the bindings and these seem to be ok.

On the AD side I've marked sure that the user account has "Inheritance" enabled, have tried deleting the mailbox and users and creating new once but keep getting the same issues. Can this somehow be related to the Active Directory ? I have checked with ADSI editor to see if I could find any abnormalities in the Services Microsoft Exchange folder, but this is where my expertise stops.

Autodiscover not providing correct server address and UPN

$

Hi

System is as follows: Server 2012R2 With Essentials Exp. + Server 2012R2 with Exchange 2013 sp1

And everything is fine and dandy, except for autodiscover, when outside of domain.

All virtual directories are configured as mail.mydomain.com

PS reports: AutoDiscoverServiceInternalUri : https://mail.mydomain.com/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml

Have installed and configured a wildcard ssl certificate, that both servers trust, and I can navigate to both servers using iexplorer:

https://server.mydomain.com/remote andhttps://mail.mydomain.com/owa

When I run exchangeremoteconnectivity I can succesfully connect with activesync.

I have set up spf and srv record in external DNS

All the users validate using domain\username

So when I try to configure Outlook 2013 using autodiscover, it just hangs at step 1.

And when I try using a galaxy s5, supplying email and password, it populates, but not correctly.

UPN is set as \username, and I need to provide "domain" to make it domain\username

Server is set as domain.com, and I need to provide "mail." to make it mail.domain.com

The I can connect, I suspect that is also why Outlook won´t autoconfigure as well.

I have read high and low, but I need more assistance per se.

Please advise :)

Regards Lars

Exchange contacts now populating in phone

When I set up our exchange account on each employee phone (android) none of the contacts show up unless one of two things happen.

1. You manually search the name (then it pops up)

2. I go to each individual computer and copy the global address book to the contacts in outlook.

Why don't the exchange contacts show up on the phone unless I do one of the two things above? I have that account choose as the contacts to display, but it shows none unless you manually copy or search the name. What is the point of having a synced exchange account if you cannot easily access the contacts?!!

Or is there a way on the exchange management console to automatically push all contacts from the global address book into the contacts without having to manually copy all global address contacts to the outlook contacts? This makes no sense that the names won't populate in phone unless you search or manually copy all contacts from GAB to outlook contacts.

There is no way that this is how it is supposed to work. If I set up 12 phones in one day, that means I need to go to each computer, open outlook and copy all GAB contacts to contacts, then they populate under contacts. Even if I turn off all contacts and only show Exchange contacts, it shows none. Again, unless you manually search, or I copy the GAB to contacts in exchange. Crazy

Public Contacts on iPhone with ActiveSync problem.

$

Hello everyone,

First of all I'm going to explain a little about the situation we currently have.

_____

So, the managers in this company told us they wanted a "Public Contacts" list within Outlook, which could be synchronized with the company iPhones via ActiveSync.

What we did was make a new AD user account, which is in linked to an Exchange user mailbox. We gave our employees full "Manage" rights on this mailbox and added the "Public Contacts" list in their Outlook.

The problem then was, that they could edit the contacts.

_____

So we started to test with certain rights within Outlook. We deleted the employees from the "Full Manage permissions" list within the exchange mailbox and gave them view rights on the Public Contact-list within Outlook. (Commentator rights)

When we did this, they could view the contacts, but they could not edit the contacts. This was exactly what we wanted, so we started to test with the synchronisation with ActiveSync (iPhone)

We added the exchange mailbox in the iPhone and we could see all the contacts.

However, the only problem that we have now is that our employees can edit the contacts on their iPhones, while they CAN'T edit the contacts within Outlook. (on PC)

_____

I hope someone could help us find a solution for this permissions problem.

They can't edit the contacts on the computer, but they can on the iPhone. :(

_____

If something is not clear, please let me know.

Thanks in advance! :)

HTTP 401 received when running exRCA and authentication fails

After upgrading Exchange 2013 to CU6 our ActiveSync functionality stopped (along with a few other things). I have been using ExRCA to troubleshoot and have spent several days looking at forums and trying different things out to get it working again but to no avail. Essentially when I enter valid account credentials it fails to authenticate and as a result I receive an 401 response.

I have already checked Inherited permissions are enabled for the user account in AD. I have checked that the authentication for the Virtual directory is set to Basic with SSL required. (Have also tried with windows authentication enabled). I have recycled the ApplicationPool especially the MSExchangeSyncAppPool - That appears to be correctly configured and running under LocalSystem Identity. I have recreated the virtual directory using the reset feature in the EPC. Both internal and external URLs are set as well as the CAS server being assigned to the External URL.

The report that I get: -

Any suggestions on how to start to diagnose exactly what is generating the issue?

Exchange 2013 Outlook Anywhere can't be set on windows xp and outllook 2010

$

Hi everybody! I have an issue with Exchange Server 2013 and outlook anywhere connectivity from Outlook 2010, installed on Windows XP machine.
The issue is that when I setup Outlook 2010 client to connect to Exchange 2013 via outlook anywhere, authentication prompt appears,
but when I fill username and password it does not accept it (User: domain\username, Pass: password).
I tried to find an answer here, but with no luck. Let me describe the environment.

Server side:

Exchange server 2013 with certificate, enrolled from our internal CA server. SAN records in certificate are mail.domain.lan and
autodiscover.domain.lan.
The certificate is imported on the server, services IIS and SMTP are assigned.
When I enter in browser https://mail.domain.lan/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml the page displays correctly with code 600, which is normal.

Internal and external URLs in Outlook Anywhere section in Exchange 2013 management console are:

Internal: mail.domain.lan
External: mail.domain.lan
Authentication type: NTLM (also tryed Negotiate, it does not work).
SSL Offloading is checked.

I have set also the outlook provider through management shell as follows:

Set-OutlookProvider EXPR -CertPrincipalName msstd:mail.domain.lan

Set-OutlookProvider EXCH -CertPrincipalName msstd:mail.domain.lan

Autodiscover setting is done again through management shell and it is:

Set-ClientAccessServer -Identity CAS01 -AutoDiscoverServiceInternalUri https://mail.domain.lan/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml

SRV resouce record for autodiscover exists on DNS server.

Workstation side:

The internal CA root certificate is imported in trusted root certification authorities store.

Outlook Anywhere is set on the Outlook 2010 as follows:

Use this URL to connect to my proxy server for Exchange: mail.domain.lan
Checked - Connect using SSL only
Checked - Only connect to proxy servers that have this principal name in their certificate: msstd:mail.domain.lan
Checked - On fast networks......
Checked - On slow networks......
Authentication type: NTLM

I have made tests from testexchangeconnectivity.com and the only error is that the certification chain cannot be verifyed,
which is normal because of the self-issued certificate.

I am trying to find a solution since monday, this week, unfortunately with no luck.
Help!!! :)

I have Outlook 2010 loaded on my computer and use it for company email on an Exchange Server.  I also use my iPhone 6 to connect to the same Exchange server. When I delete email from my iPhone the emails are not deleted when I open Outlook from my desktop computer. Deleting from my desktop computer deletes the emails from both my iPhone and my desktop. Any ideas what is going on?

Delete ExchangeActiveSyncDevice

Hi all,

I am trying to migrate user to another domain, and get error message as below:

ERR2:7422 Failed to move source object ‘CN=XXXX’. hr=0x8007208c The operation cannot be performed because child objects exist. This operation can only be performed on a leaf object.

Searching some references i found that the object CN=ExchangeActiveSyncDevices is the leaf object and the cause of issue, and the suggestion is to delete that leaf object. I am having permission problem to delete the object, but my question is, what if the device stated in the object is currently the device used to set corporate email, how to remove the object without affecting mail setting on user's device??

Kindly advice.

Wiping ActiveSync Data

We have Exchange 2013 and are wondering if it's possible to remotely just wipe the Activesync data from a device or if you can only Wipe the whole device.

If I Disable Activesync, it doesn't remove any data from the device, it just makes it so they can't get or send new mail.  We'd rather not wipe the entire device if we don't have to.

I don't think it's possible to just wipe the Activesync data but just wanted to ask to be sure.

Also, f we do a full wipe, is there any sort of confirmation or logs that we can be sure it really did wipe?

Thanks.

Charset problem When replaying from Iphone

Hi all

We have exchange 2013. When user gets an email in English and replies it from his iPhone in Hebrew the mail received as question marks.

I did some tests, when you just send an email in Hebrew it has utf-8 encoding. But, when you replay in hebrew to an english email then the encoding is us-ascii. Its probably not changing the original encoding of the first message.

We have tried gmail and other mail providers non of them has this problem, only exchange 2013 with iphone.

Exchange ActiveSync

Hi There ,

I have installed Exchange server 2013 on my test environment. I have everything in one server ( Domain Controller , AD and Exchange ). The Exchange seems to be working fine internally but not External. All settings are still default on Exchange. I haven’t created the Certificate nor Virtual Directories. My Question is how do I go about making my Exchange to work Externally ( i.e Making Active Sync work ) ? is it a must to create Certificate , Virtual Directories and Send connectors and if the Answer is Yes , which one comes first and how do I do that ?

I’ll appreciate anyone’s Help.
