Phones not wiping

$

Hello

I am running Exchange 2013 on premise and we recently let an employee with two phones go.  I have one phone with me and he still has the other.

I used ECP to initiate a remote device wipe for both phones and neither are wiping.  Both have the status of Wipe Pending.  The phone that I have with me is on and attempting to sync.  I can see the "Sign-in failed" notification on the lock screen.  It could be that the other phone is powered off and sitting in a drawer somewhere.

I realize that I can enter a bad password five times and the phone will reset itself but I'm not looking for a workaround.  I need to be able to reliably erase phones remotely.

The phones are both Android, Samsung Galaxy S4 and S6 Edge.  Can anyone enlighten me as to why these phones won't wipe?

Samsung Galaxy S5 fingerprint reader and ActiveSync

Wondering if anyone knows the issue with Android fingerprint readers and ActiveSync - is there a setting somewhere that needs to be altered to allow the fingerprint reader with the S5? I know the iPhone5s' fingerprint reader works, but having no luck so far with the S5.

Thanks

Exch2013: Cannot manage mobiles via ECP/As admin. Does work as user via OWA

Hi everyone,

So im testing out this function to wipe mobile phones that are connected to our Exchange.

As user, via OWA. I can succesfully wipe my phone and delete the object from my phone list.

As admin, via ECP (user mailbox -> Mailbox features -> Mobile devices -> View details -> Select phone and wipe device)

i can give the commando to wipe, but the phone will not wipe. The phone can still sync with the server and send and recieve e-mail. And the status in ECP will be, Pending wipe.

Also, when i login to OWA, and check my mobile phone status. I cannot see that a wipe is pending at that same time.

I have tried this with different phones (also, android and iphone), with the same result.

My admin account has the required roles, as described here: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd638131.aspx

- Organization Management, Server Management, Recipient Management

I have not yet tried this via powershell.

This looks like a permissions issue to me, but i might be wrong.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

iOS Devices Stopped Syncing

We have a large subset of mobile devices, mostly iOS, that just stopped syncing e-mail with their Exchange accounts.

We have thoroughly searched the logs across all servers in the 2010 and 2013 environments and have not been able to find the root cause of this problem within the e-mail system.  With nothing more to go on, we performed a full restart of all 2010 CAS and all 2013 servers, which does not appear to have corrected the issues.

We do see requests to //server/Microsoft-Server-Activesync in the IIS logs for some of the affected users, with a status of 200, but the “LastAttemptTime” values for these devices remains several days behind.

All connectivity tests (testconnectivity.microsoft.com, test-activesync cmdlet, and browser checks)  come back looking good.  The majority of devices in our ecosystem can sync fine, but a fairly good sized subset cannot.  Some of the affected devices can be fixed with a restart, while others require a full removal of the Exchange account.

I have attempted to turn on verbose ActiveSync logging for some of the affected accounts, but since they do not sync, I am not able to get anything.

If anyone has any suggestions as to what might be going on here, it would be a huge help.

WAP Server workgroup or domain for Activesync?

Hi,

can't seem to find any confirmation that does Wep Application Proxy need to be joined to domain for publishing Activesync for Exchange 2010 / 2013 / 2016 ?

I know that OWA can be published with WAP sitting only with one leg in DMZ.

Thanks,

Tommi

Outlook Needs Internet

Hi!

After we migrated to Exchange 2013 from 2010, most of our users are unable to connect to their email accounts internally. We think this is due to the certificate revocation list of windows. If we enable internet for them they can connect. Which website we should open so that their system can check the update crl list? We are using Godaddy SSL Certificate.

Thanks.

Exchange 2013 Active-Sync Issue

Hi

I recently setup an Exchange 2013 server (CU9) with UC cert - all is well except for active-sync.

I tried setting up the account in the native mail app, but it says unable to connect - error "Unable to verify account information"

I then downloaded the iOS Outlook app and the account connects fine (Receives and sends mail).

Is there a way to get it working with the native app or do I have to download the Outlook app?

Thanks in advance!

Exchange 2010 Activesync text messaging - users can receive but not send - maybe since SP3 and rollup install?

$

Hi there,

Limited information available about this so hopefully someone can enlighten me!

Environment was Exchange 2010 SP2 with no rollups, unknown by IT dept some users had configured 'SMS Sync' within the ActiveSync setup on their mobile phone.  They were happily receiving and sending messages with Outlook 2013.  Until now I didn't even know this functionality existed (if I had I would be using it!).

Anyway recently we updated the servers to 2010 SP3 Rollup 11.  I'm not 100% sure but it would appear since then that the users cannot longer send a text from Outlook but can still receive them.  I read somewhere that the functionality was dropped in Outlook 2013, but that doesn't make sense as surely this is server side technology using ActiveSync to communicate with the phone??  Also one of our users swears that it was working fine not long ago and nothing has changed on the client / phone side of things.  I looked on my Windows 8.1 phone and there is no option there to sync SMS.

Question:
Can someone confirm that this has been removed server side by the SP3 and rollup installation?
With this functionality missing from my Windows phone, I assume it is being phased out but cannot find any definitive answer, can anyone confirm?

Thanks,
Simon

Unable to send and receive emails internally after exchange 2013 introduced in exchange 2007 environment- coexist environment

Hi All

we have exchange 2007 (2HT,2CAS,3 MBX in CCR and SCR) and introduced exchange 2013 6mbx,3 CAS  recently.

all the URL's are currently pointing to exchange 2007, SSL certificates are installed in all the CAS servers, created 30 new DB's in ex2013 and disabled 6 default mailboxes in 2013.

we did not add mbx servers in sendconnector, policies are not migrated, no configuration has done

Issue: 2013mbx test1 to mbx tes2 is working but mailflow from 2007 to 2013 and 2013 to 2007 is not happenings,

Please guide me or Point me to a Correct KB artical about the configuration. (how will i establish or configure the communication between internal versions)

i assume it has to be communicated internally without any configuration

ActiveSync - unable to verify account information

I completed a migration from Exchange 2007 to 2013. After decommissioning the 2007 server and moving log files to another location. I had a couple users receive an error on their iPhones "unable to verify account information".  Under IIS --> Authentication, I enabled Windows Authentication on the Default and Back End websites and restarted IIS.  That seemed to work, however if I add myself to someone else's iPhone the same error appears again "unable to verify account information".  What I thought was the solution only seems to be just temporary.  I have checked the log files under inetpub and I don't see any access denied errors for those specific users.  I was curious if anyone else has experienced this and might have found a solution?  If you need me to provide more information let me know.

Thanks

If I allow my users to download, install, and use the Outlook app on Android and iOS devices will I still be able to perform a remote wipe of the device?

iPhone ActiveSync not working during offline DB copy

$

We are running Exchange 2010 SP3 U8. We have our databases in a DAG. we are building another site and the best way for us to get the copy to the new site is to dismount the DB and then copy it manually to a volume that is replicated to the new site. while the DB is dismounted for some reason all users of iPhones loose ActiveSync on their mobile device and cant get mail updates.

The error in the logs is  eventid 1016 Source: MSExchange ActiveSync

Exchange ActiveSync has encountered repeated failures when it tries to access data on Mailbox server [xxx.xxx]. It will temporarily stop making requests to the Mailbox server for [60] seconds to reduce load on that server. This delay may occur if the Mailbox server is overloaded. If this event is logged frequently, review the Application log on this server and the Mailbox server noted above for other events that could indicate the root cause of performance problems.

Any ideas would be great.

Outlook Exchange 2013 Cannot Remove Mobile device

$

Hi Guys,

On our email server we cannot remove a users device,  it appears in the ECP and in the OWA for that user, but it will not let us delete it or remote wipe it.  If we try to open the edit mobile device in ECP we get an error stating that the device doesn't exist.

I have tried using exchange admin powershell to remove the device but Get-MobileDevice for that mailbox finds no devices against that mailbox,  however Get-MobileDeviceStatistics does find the device (with the ID that is showing up in error box in ECP),  Remove-MobileDevice will not recognize the GUID or ID.

The mailbox on the phone appears to login but it has outdated email's in it.  Its as though the email account and the device have been disconnected.  We did have a issue with AD a week ago and this was restored from backup.  Any ideas how to remove the mobile device and re-sync?

We are using outlook for android app on the device.

Office 365 & Exchange 2013 - Migration of Users

$

Hi There,
I am currently in the process of trying to create a Hyrbid environment between an on-premises Exchange server (2013) and Office 365.

After many headaches, I have managed to get to the point of migrating users.
I go to migrate a user using the office 365 admin centre.
Select the migration type: Remote Move Migration
Selected a user account
Typed in my Domain Admin Account credentials
Pressed Next

and then it fails with an error:

We couldn't detect your server settings. Please enter them. The ExchangeRemote endpoint settings could not be determined from the autodiscover response. No MRSProxy was found running at ‎'exchange.contoso.co.uk‎'.

Remote MRS proxy server:
The FQDN of the Exchange server that the Mailbox Replication Service (MRS) Proxy is on.

I have looked at the Virtual Directory for EWS on my exchange set up and can confirm that the MRS proxy option has been enabled, and the internal and external URLs are correct and accessible...

I have even gone so far as to remove and recreate the EWS VD, but no matter what this error persists.

Can anybody help with this issue?

Kind Regards,

-Tim Jeens

Add only the user calendar Active Sync, without having to connect the account

$

Hi all, I have an Exchange 2013 installed and need to give permission to a mailbox (A) to access only to schedule another mailbox (B).

From the OWA and Outlook environment is configured correctly and the user connects Just calendar mailbox B.

But this from the mobile, Active Sync does not work, not only as adding schedule B to user A without the need to connect with the username and password of B.

Is there any way to add only the user's calendar B in the mobile user A? without connecting the user account "B" on the mobile device "A" post.

Best regards
